Well, since my arms and wrists and fingers hurt, I was going to post some research but pretty much everything I needed I got from this internets. First I installed AntiRSI after reading about it on jwz’s blog, then a friend brought up how he was about to play God of War, and it dawned on me that God of War represents a genre I probably should never play again.

I don’t think I could stuff enough glucosamine and chondroitin into my body to be able to justify the risk versus the reward for playing God of War.

So what else should I probably avoid playing?

Most PC games that use kb/mouse

Anything else like God of War with moments of huge button tapping.

Typing of the Dead

Diablo

Command and Conquer 3′s kind of speedy RTS

And I’ll probably go buy whatever Microsoft Natural keyboard they’ll sell me at fry’s, a good wrist brace, and maybe order some joint juice plus online since I can’t find it in stores. This is what you get for 20 years of computer usage without taking ergonomics or health in general into account.

Remember the end of Gears of War, the last level where through no plot or explanation you’re on a train?

Guess what, Epic didn’t just fuck up, they planned the fuck up and released the game with a half-assed solution, no content or context leading up to the final level.

Oh and if you want the extra content you can buy the Windows version:

In Gears of War PC, players will be treated to five new chapters in a “Timgad” act that takes place just before the game’s final level (where you head towards the train), in addition to a level editor, and minor gameplay tweaks and graphical touch-ups.

The new act centers on the Brumak character that some felt was underused in the original game, and gives players more context on what’s happening and why they are moving towards the train for the finale.

I guess Microsoft might even “make” them sell the content on the 360 marketplace again, or they’re release a new version with it for the 360. I’m sure their new cars, houses, loans and mortgages, won’t assist in that decision making process.

Bob

Zachary Slater

Michael Russell reckons that GFW live isn’t so bad..

Normally I’m loathe to disagree, however in this I must. GFW Live is a pox upon PC gaming’s free and diverse online multiplayer gaming realms. Sure some parts of GFW might seem nice now, but when you end up paying $50 a year to get called names by 10 year olds over ports of ancient Xbox 1 software (that will most likely end up remaining solely on Windows unlike it’s predecessor) you might change your mind.

In any case, as is plain as day, you won’t see EA doing this, and Epic isn’t airing their grievances properly to get what they want. Even if Epic gets special indemnity against the your-customers-must-pay-us-too clauses of the GFW Live service, will the licensors of Unreal Engine 3?

You are aware that no Live games have actual dedicated servers, right? How does this even remotely fit in with the volunteer servers that normally feed in with the rest of PC gaming?

You should listen to the painfully low-quality Skype conversation 1up Yours (the 04/06/2007 episode) had that started all this discussion anyway. It is extremely informative regarding GFW Live.
